How credits and usage work

Openly tracks three monthly meters while we are in beta: AI credits, exports, and test sends. They reset on the 1st of each month (UTC).

What are credits and usage?

Openly uses three monthly meters, not token billing. AI credits pay for AI features. Exports and test sends are separate. Signing in, editing on the canvas, preview, save, Wizard layout, support chat, and the contact form do not spend credits.

You need to be signed in for metered actions. Remaining amounts show on Home and in the Burger Menu .

Monthly allowances during beta

During the free beta you get 50 AI credits, 6 exports, and 10 test sends each month. You cannot buy extra credits yet.

What uses AI credits

Stock or site photos in image fill are included in the fill cost. Extra credits apply only when Openly generates an image. Support chat and the contact form do not use AI credits.

How many credits to build an email

Wizard, layout only: 0.
Wizard, copy and images: usually 3-8 (2 for copy, 1 for image fill, plus 1 per AI image; optional +1 for website colours).
One Shot first draft: usually 5-10 (2 interpret + 2 copy + 1 image fill, often +2 for a logo, plus any AI images).
Each later AI edit in Build or One Shot chat: 2 (plus images).

Manual Build work after that is free. Regenerating copy or images charges again.

Exports and test sends

Copy HTML and download HTML each use 1 export. They do not use AI credits. A test send uses 1 test send, even if you send to 3 addresses.

Where to see remaining usage

Signed-in usage appears on Home and in the Burger Menu at the top right of the Top Navigation Bar. Each meter shows remaining of the monthly limit, plus the reset date.

When meters reset

All three meters reset on the 1st of each month, UTC. If a meter is empty, that action is blocked until the reset. Other meters still work.

Openly is a free beta. Extra credits cannot be bought yet.
