Outlook looks different

Outlook desktop uses Word’s HTML engine. Rounded corners, background images, and raw HTML can look different from Gmail.

What is different in Outlook?

Outlook on Windows still uses Word’s HTML engine. Rounded corners, background images on sections, web fonts, and raw HTML often fall back to simpler shapes or system fonts. Apple Mail and Gmail are more forgiving.

How to get closer

  1. Prefer Text, Heading, Image, Button, and Table over a Code block.
  2. Keep Graphic Text and shaped dividers as accents, not as the only structure.
  3. Open Email Health Check and read the Compatibility section.
  4. Send a test to an Outlook inbox before a real send.

You cannot make every inbox identical. Design so the email still reads when corners square off and a background image drops.
